Asian Smileys

In Asia, the smileys they use are totally differents and I thought it could be interesting to have a look at (some of) them.

Some basic concepts in asian emoticons…

Let’s take one of the most popular asian smileys as an example… (^_^)

The mouth
- It is optional! (^^) is less obvious but totally accepted!
- You may make the difference between males (^_^) and females (^.^) Females are not supposed to show their teeth…
- You may also show that you are happy or even laughing. (^o^)

The face
- Parenthesis are delimiting the face of the emoticon. It is also optional. ^_^
- You may blush (*^_^*)

The eyes
- With the asian emoticons, you can easily express that you are happy (^_^), angry (>_
(^_^) Smile
(^.^) Female smile
(^_^)/ Smile while saying hello.
(^-^)/~ Smile while waving handkerchief
(-_-)zz.. Sleeping
(^.^)b Thumbs up
(@_@) Surprised, amazed
(;_;) Crying
(T_T) Crying a lot
\(^_^)/ Wow!
(-.-)y- Asking for a cigaret break
(^o^) Happy
(*^_^*) Exciting
(~_~) annoyed or sleepy
(^_~) wink
(`_^) wink
(>_

Do you know some other Asian Smileys? Leave a comment and I will add it to the table!

Instead of running everywhere with a gun killing everybody to achieve a selfish goal, the player would rather help old people, prevent others to spit on the ground, mend socks, etc. O_o !!! Shanda Interactive Entertainment Limited (Nasdaq: SNDA), an interactive entertainment media company in China, is working on such a project with an online game called “Chinese Hero Registry”. In this game, you will be able to play the role of about 100 chinese heroes such as an incorruptible judge, a Ming Dynasty general or an imperial eunuch who supposedly beat Christopher Columbus to the New World. And if you behave correctly, you will be awarded a virtual copy of the Little Red Book signed by Mao Ze Dong himself! […]
