China signed a US$335 million contract with Malaysia. China will exports its palm shell based paper making technology and provide the complete set of equipment for 10 production lines. The technology cover palm planting, palm oil extraction and paper making with the palm shells.
This will enable Malaysia to recycle the palm shells instead of burying them or burning them. So far, the annual production of palm shells in Malaysia reaches an annual 30 millions tons. Indonesia and Thailand have also shown some interest in the technology.
