Dreams and Nightmares !

It’s not an article but the name of our next show! It’s happening on July 13th at a great location: The Playground. The Playground is a hutong house, renovated with a very nice modern design style: now it’s actually a cultural centre for kids. Hope to see you there!

The Beijing Actors Workshop will be performing live at the “Playground” with the theme of Dreams & Nightmares. We will have three captivating stories that will let you peer into the mind’s subterranean inner workings. Scary though it may be, these scenes are based on actual dreams manifested during deep sleep. Join us and cross into the world where many spend 1/3 of their lives: sleeping with Dreams & Nightmares!

For the third time a row since beginning of 2007, we’re launching a new performance. This time a slightly different approach as we let go of our partners Bejing Improv to focus on a more artistic performance. I am happy to have originated this show’s theme, where we based the creative process on real dreams. Members shared dreams they’ve had, we selected some of them and use them as creative material to build on fantastic and symbolic synopsis for performances. In the end we came up with three stories, each under one of the three Beijing Actors’ Workshop director work. The show this time is integrated a lot of chinese beginners actors! They show a great motivation but with a little less than two months preparations, it’s quite a challenge.

Not many pictures to post, though. But on the right you can see an exemple of a rather… physical workshop session!
